Trip Delay and Missed Connection Coverages

Before travel mishaps and unpredicted events ruin your vacation, learn about the Trip Delay and Missed Connected Benefits from Travel Guard.

Trip Delay

When certain unexpected events prevent you from reaching your vacation, Travel Guard can help get you back on track.

What is Trip Delay coverage?

Trip Delay is a coverage on most Travel Guard travel insurance plans that provides you with coverage for certain reasonable costs, which may include lodging and food, when you can’t reach your destination due to a covered, Unforeseen delay or cancellation.

How do I use Trip Delay coverage?

If you experience a significant delay in your travels (length of time varies by plan), save any receipts for necessary items you purchase until you’re able to get to your destination. You can file a claim to request reimbursement for those expenses. To confirm which expenses are covered, be sure to review your plan’s complete terms and conditions.

Common Questions

No, the Trip Delay coverage is only active while you are already traveling and provides reimbursement for the covered costs associated with the delay in getting your trip back on track.

Trip Delay does not provide coverage for flights missed of your own accord unless there was a traffic accident on the way to your departure flight, in which case a police report verifying the incident will be required when filing your claim.

When you’re looking at travel insurance plans, it’s important to understand what you are purchasing. The best way to do this is to read over the policy of insurance.

Missed Connection

The Missed Connection coverage from Travel Guard can help insured travelers by providing reimbursement for certain additional transportation costs incurred to get your journey back on track if a departure is missed for a covered reason.

What is Missed Connection coverage?

Missed Connection is a coverage on most Travel Guard travel insurance plans that provides coverage when you miss your departure due to a Common Carrier (like an airline) delay. It typically covers for certain additional transportation costs associated with getting you back to your trip and for covered unused trip costs if you miss portions of your trip entirely.

How do I use Missed Connection coverage?

If you experience a missed connection, save any receipts for costs associated with catching up with your trip. If you need assistance getting to your destination, Travel Guard’s 24-hour emergency travel assistance team can help with last-minute arrangements. You can file a claim to request reimbursement for those covered expenses you incurred.

Common Questions

Travel Guard provides Missed Connection coverage for missed departures caused by Common Carrier delay or for Inclement Weather. It is crucial to keep track of your schedule and to allow plenty of time to realistically make your connection (assuming your travels go smoothly). This coverage will not be applicable if the insured’s travel arrangements allow less than one hour between connections for domestic travel or less than two hours between international connections, as travelers will have known the risks of short layover times when booking.

No, your rescheduled connection trip can be with a different carrier to help get your trip back on track as soon as possible.

Reviews and Testimonials

So far, while using your travel insurance plans, we have not had any travel issues. Still, I would never travel without a travel insurance plan.  Trip delays and cancelled flights are bad enough, but with your travel insurance plans, I don’t travel with trepidation anymore. Trips are supposed to alleviate stress, not exasperate it.
