Is Belize safe to visit?

Travelers should exercise caution when visiting Belize. Petty and violent crime is prevalent throughout the country, even in tourist areas. For these reasons, it is important to stay aware of your surroundings, travel in groups instead of traveling alone, avoid walking or driving at night, do not physically resist robbery attempts and do not display signs of wealth.
